But then their word for skull is Totenkopf, as in Death’s Head. 

So German basically has two settings, kawaii and metal, and there is no in between.

I didn’t say this the first time I reblogged this, but the German word for kitten is not actually katzenkinder. Sure it literally means “cat children” but nobody uses that translation when speaking. German is not a language meant to be literally translated. You will get some pretty weird stuff. The correct word for kitten is kaetzchen or kätzchen with an umlaut (yes, the two dots over a letter in German are called an umlaut). Just felt like this needed some clearing up.

(Also, Germans have more than one word for things and totenkopf is not commonly used, the word schädel is.)
